Holstein Kiel is starting the second half of the season with a personnel shake-up. The 2. Bundesliga club began preparations for the second half on Friday and made changes to the squad. Midfielder Robert Wagner is leaving the club and returning to Bundesliga side SC Freiburg. As a replacement, Holstein Kiel has signed Umut Tohumcu from TSG Hoffenheim. The 21-year-old will be loaned until the end of the season and is expected to strengthen the KSV's offense. Coach Marcel Rapp expects a lot from Tohumcu, especially in terms of offense. Tohumcu himself is looking forward to the new challenge and wants to contribute to a successful second half. The squad changes are also a reaction to the mediocre performances of the KSV in the first 17 games of the season. Holstein Kiel is currently in 11th place at the halfway point, with only five wins and 20 points. Sports director Olaf Rebbe praises Tohumcu as a versatile midfielder who combines intensity and goal-scoring threat. Tohumcu has already played in several German youth national teams and was trained in the TSG youth academy. The young pro made five appearances in this Bundesliga season, mostly as a substitute. Holstein Kiel has also signed 19-year-old Tayar Tasdelen, who signed a contract until June 30, 2029, and comes from HSC Hannover. Tasdelen will still play on loan for Hannover in the second half of the current season before joining the Störchen in the summer.
